Their egos are tied to whatever they’re currently doing and they see any attempt to improve it as an affront to their competence or power.

Supportive and nurturing leaders understand that there’s always something that can be improved and that each small tweak leads toward more ideas and opportunities to make their workplace cultures better.

A great way to figure out your areas for improvement is to simply ask your staff open-ended questions to get their ideas of what could be improved. Listen actively and take action on what they share with you.
