Face Time Is Really the Need to Control Employees

Face Time Is Really the Need to Control Employees - Guy Farmer Consulting

When leaders insist that they need face time with their employees, they’re actually saying that they need to control them. They force people to stand in front of them while they issue directives or drone on about something only they deem important. It’s just a colossal waste of time that belittles staff.

In reality, most interactions don’t require face-to-face meetings—they can be effectively handled through email or messaging.

A far better use of face time is to facilitate ongoing exercises and activities that build employees up and make their jobs easier (like team building or problem solving) where they can all be together working on things that build a more supportive and nurturing workplace culture.
